The extended part also \u003cspan\u003emakes it very well suited for catching shields and weapons. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe shaft is untreated, polished ash that can be treated with linseed oil or anything of your choice. The blade is thin and made for cutting, whilst a wood chipping axe has a wedge shaped blade to withstand the impact. The elongated parts of the blade are especially vulnerable for heavy impacts, since they have no \"backing\".
