Fenrir pendant made in bronze.

Product number: 2310

In Norse mythology, Fenrir is a monstrous wolf fathered by the god Loki. Fenrir in turn fathered the wolves Hati and Sköll who would devour the moon and the sun come Ragnarök. He was raised in Asgard, initially as a harmless creature, but he soon grew into a giant monster that worried even the gods themselves. It was agreed that Fenrir must be bound, upon which the gods presented him with a large, heavy chain and told him that he was strongest of all if he managed to tear it apart. The wolf easily tore the chain apart. They tried the same trick with an even stronger chain, but the result was the same.

Finally the dwarfs made a rope out of the roots of the mountain, the noise made by a cat, the sinews of a bear, a fisherman's breath, a woman's beard and the spit of birds. The rope looked like fine silk, but was so strong that nothing could tear it apart. The dwarfs named it Gleipnir. Fenrir sensed that there was something strange going on and suspected that the rope was magical. Thus he required one of the gods to place his hand into his mouth as a guarantee, would he try on the rope. The god Tyr was the only one who dared. When Fenrir discovered that he had been deceived and he was bound, he bit off Tyr's Hand. Fenrir will finally break free come Ragnarök and get his revenge through killing Odin, the king of the Norse gods.
