Pendant made in solid bronze depicting an Ulfhedin chewing on a snake. It is based on the original item dated to 800s that was found in Upplands-Bro, Sweden. The chewing is connected to their frenzy and fearlessness. In the sagas they are described as "chewing the rims of their shields in frenzy".
The Ulfhedin was a frenzied, ritual warrior wearing the skin of a wolf into battle - similar to the berserker who wore a bear skin. Sagas mention that King Harald Finehair had an elite Ulfhedin guard.
